Dear parents and classmates
We received an urgent notice today that due to epidemic prevention and control measures, we will fully switch to online teaching, which is expected to last for one week.
I understand that even though the pandemic has entered its third year and we have experienced the same online teaching, such a transformation is still a great challenge. The living and learning environment of students, the way and effectiveness of course learning, the way they communicate with their families, and the pace and progress of their preparation for further education will all be affected. If you feel confused, confused, uncomfortable, or unsafe, then you are not alone. Each of us is working hard to cope, and all the teachers in the BIS department will do their best to help everyone overcome difficulties.
In such an uncertain period, the essence of American higher education remains unchanged. We need to educate students to shift from relying on teachers and parents to taking responsibility for their own learning and life, from relying on teachers to impart knowledge to having their own methods and suitable ways to truly learn knowledge, and truly endow their lives with meaning through high school education. During the pandemic, even if the learning platform shifts to online, the goals and essence of our education remain unchanged.
In online teaching, each of us teachers will persist in using technological means to achieve diversity in classroom teaching activities. Tencent Meeting can achieve group discussions, real-time text discussions, and students sharing screen presentations. Teachers are also proficient in using online teaching support platforms such as Quizlet to assist in teaching, ensuring the effectiveness of online teaching as much as possible. In addition, online courses can be recorded simultaneously, allowing students who encounter technical problems or other distractions to review after class, further ensuring learning effectiveness.
In terms of homework, our students are proficient in using laptops and the Managebac academic management system, and can fully adapt to homework assignment, submission, grading, and feedback after online teaching. We will also continue to provide AP Workshop, ESL Support, and other course coaching support, as well as peer-to-peer teacher Q&A and after-school tutoring. Our academic early warning system will be activated in advance, continuously monitoring students who have learning difficulties and are at risk of failing, to help them make progress.
After the end of a day's class, 16:15-16:30 is the regular class meeting time. Students will share their difficulties and feelings with the class teacher, and the teachers will try their best to communicate and solve them.
